The Atlas’ modern design is one of the vehicle’s best features, which hasn’t changed much, but of course, there are updates here and there to make it stand out better from the crowd. The front looks new with the available light-up VW logo, grille, LED daytime running lights, and the IQ.Light headlights. The rear also gets refreshed with new LED taillights and the available illuminated rear VW emblem.

Inside, the Atlases are as spacious as before, with 77.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down on the Cross Sport and 96.8 cubic feet in the regular Atlas. Upfront, the VW Digital Cockpit Pro is standard, giving you an endlessly customizable gauge cluster. And the Atlases get the 12-inch Discover Media infotainment system, the same touchscreen interface in the ID.4, and the GTI and R.

For safety and performance, the Atlases get IQ.Drive as standard along with VW’s Carefree Coverage. Under the hood is an updated 2.0L turbocharged engine with 269hp and 273 lb-ft of torque paired to an even smoother 8-speed automatic transmission. Sounds measly, but this engine has a 5,000-pound towing capacity, so it really pulls its weight. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4Motion all-wheel drive is available as an option.
