Dubsplash 2023

Dubsplash 2023 was a blast! Thank you to everyone who came to the party and supported everyone, whether they were water-cooled or air-cooled VWs! Big big shoutout to our neighbor next door, Fort Brewery, for providing us with free beer for the party! Read on for a recap of the event! 

Taking place smack dab in the middle of DFW in Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, the morning started off cool, thanks to the clouds in the skies. And as the clouds started dissipating, the cars also started showing up. First, lots of classic Beetles came through, then the Type 2 Busses made their way, some Things, Meyers Manx buggies, and other air-cooled VWs. Finally, on the water-cooled side, many Golfs, Rabbits, Jettas, and Passats made their way to the field. Including a Harlekin Golf and a Polo! 

Our “DubBox,” a trailer in the shape of a VW Bus, was the highlight of our activities at the show; our guests would roll the dice and win cool VW swag like an LED pen light, oil funnels, beach balls, and the highly coveted Autobahn VW work gloves. In addition, we were handing out free snacks and refreshments like soda and the Grey Eagle beer from Fort Brewery. The beer was such a hit; we ran out of it before noon! 

In all, Dubsplash was a huge success! So congratulations to all the car show winners, and a big thanks to Fort Brewery for the beer and to everyone who came out and said hi.

The writer here with my favorite cars I saw at the show: 

• The Pomelo Yellow MK8 GTI from BMP Tuning is the same car we had in inventory and posted on our pages on 12/01/2021! So to see the guys from BMP take it from stock to this beautiful piece of modded MK8 GTI goodness brings a tear to my eye as a GTI fanatic. 
• Harlekin Golf and Polo: I’ve only heard stories about them and only seen pictures on the internet, so seeing them up close with my own eyes is a treat. 
• Cliff Green Spektrum Golf R: The MK7 Golfs are my favorite(I drive a MK7 GTI, so I’m definitely not biased here ?), and the Spektrum R’s are a dream car for me. This example, in the stunning green and in stock form, is definitely something worth drooling over.
• Yellow Thing with no windshield: This thing looks wild! I’m not exactly sure how you can drive without a windshield, but that must be one heck of a ride!
• 2 Super Beetles fused together: They’re basically going to make a 4-door Beetle, I don’t know how that’s going to work but I’m looking forward to see it in the future!
