Volkswagen ID.4 Production in Chattanooga, TN

The Volkswagen ID.4 is now assembled stateside!

With over 190,000 units delivered since 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 is VW’s most popular all-electric model. And in late July, Volkswagen of America officially started the production of the all-electric SUV in Chattanooga, Tennessee! These American ID.4’s are expected to be delivered as early as October 2022.

The American ID.4’s are assembled with materials and components sourced from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Some components, like steel, are obtained from Alabama and Ohio, interior parts are from Indiana and South Carolina, and electric components are from Kentucky and North Carolina. The EV batteries are supplied by SK Innovation located in Georgia.

Volkswagen Chattanooga produces the Atlas, the Atlas Cross Sport, and now the ID.4, employing more than 4,000 team members in the factory. VW Chattanooga is also hiring more than 1,000 team members through 2022 to facilitate and increase ID.4 production to 7,000 cars per month in Q4 2022. In the near future, Chattanooga will also produce the North American Spec version of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz!
